My journey to becoming a doula began with my own birth experience, where I realized just how much education, support and preparation matter. That’s why I’m here: to help families approach birth not with fear, but with faith, confidence and trust in your own body. My goal is to help you have a safe and satisfying birth as YOU define it. We met Willa in our birth class and our first impressions were that she’s a kind, thoughtful, and caring person who loves to help others. This was only emphasized the more we got to know her and when we started working with her. We were interested in hiring her right away and we’re so glad we did. We had a very particular birth plan, this was our first baby, and our plans changed repeatedly in the weeks leading up to the birth. Through it all Willa was understanding, flexible, and helpful. She always offered information, tips, and advice to prepare for birth which really set us up for success. When my wife went into labor, Willa was there for us right away, meeting us at the hospital with a full bag of useful equipment and items to help with labor that were a blessing to have and that we never would have thought to bring. My wife had a very intense labor that lasted over 24 hours. Willa stayed in the room with us, awake, the entire time and knew all of the right things to say and do. She was one of the biggest reasons why the birth was such a positive experience. From helping my wife labor and applying endless counter pressure, to helping us sleep, to helping us make informed medical decisions, to advocating for us, to taking pictures of us with our baby she was just a wonderful presence in the room and a great asset to have. She knows how to care for her clients without being overbearing and does a great job of stepping in and stepping out of the situation when needed. We are so grateful for everything she did for us and would recommend her to anyone having a baby whether they’re looking for a doula or not. She’s absolutely phenomenal.
